In the united states, you have the right, because we have adversarial hearings in the united States, be accused of a crime without allowing your, your accuser, to be cross examined. When some one pleads the fifth, it carries no implication of guilt whatsoever. Even a mention of it in a proper adversarial hearing is considered grounds to toss the case.
