The Importance of a Virtualized File System in Git
This was absolutely something that grew out of our absolute need when we were talking about getting the Windows Monoribo on to Git. If you're into a full clone, it's going to be at the very start, it was 100 gigabytes of packed Git data. And then you do the initial checkout and it blows up to 300 gigabytes in your working directory. But if we say, hey, let's remove the blob history, that 100 gigabytes goes down to something like 10 gigabytes or a gigabyte.
