Yellowstone did not have an immediate effect. It was not until 18 90 that congress past other legislation creating three new national parks in california. But it really took the presidency of teddy roosevelt, right at the turn of the twentieth century to catapult national parks into the american consciousness. He single handedly create d a huge number of reservations and national monuments.
