There are some really great books out there. It's harder to find stuff on the french material and on the french historical material that i am interested in. The historian owen davies has written some wonderful, like several wonderful books about this now. And more recently, actually, was a book by thomas waters am called cursed britain which covers a lot of this material. I strongly recommend it if you are interested in the french examples.
