The Importance of Amino Acids in Insect Resistance
I've long argued that nitrates are taken with water and an oversupply creates sort of a nutrient dilution effect. That plant then subsequently can become something of a calling card for insects. Once we get amino acids accumulating they can link together to form more complete and complex proteins and insects can't digest those. So the argument here is that as much as we need to convert nitrates and ammonium and urea onwards to aminos that's really important but then we've got to finish the final step and link those together into morecomplete and complex proteins. And that's where we can see greater inherent insect resistance because now the plant becomes unattractive to the insectbecause it cannot digest those
