The Universal Reaction to Trauma
When you're traumatized, it's very hard to be spiritual because when you're frightened or frozen. It's very hard for you to really feel justice or love in the universe. Your personal deep visceral experience is not of love and generosity. When you sit with people who are reliving their trauma, it's a very, you know, your mirror and your own system picks up all the pain and the stuff. You have been listening and taking in the stories of trauma almost like second hand for years and years and years. That's pretty much a universal experience of everybody who takes these ages - that I'm just a little part of a much larger whole.
