"I don't try to be adversarial with people because I feel like whoever I'm talking to, there's been a certain vetting," he says. "When you approach people with this open-mindedness and empathy and lack of judgment, they end up telling you stuff that if you were adversarial and combative and you were trying to expose them, you'd be really thrilled." For example, Tom Gaynor, the co-CEO of Mark Howell, lost all his hair during the financial crisis but went on to have an incredible career.
