Trade Between Christians and Moslems

Papacy banned trade with muslims, but granted exemptions to its own band er. So you have this seemingly very contradictory policy, i suppose, of trade ban on the one hand, and then exemptions to the ban on the other hand. And that's what i'm sort of trying to pick out, you know, the details of these two seemingly conflicting facets o papal policy.
