The Importance of Designing the Experience Up Front
The frustration stayed with you all year in the French example. You can either be embarrassed and frustrated for a year because you never immerse yourself or you pop the bubble straight away. It's just characteristic of people that I've interviewed who do none this kind of technique that often there are these sort of structural obstacles to learning certain skills that it is difficult and frustrating. And if you can design the experience up front so you can push through some of those things early on, then often the experience of people I've spoken to is the oppositethat it flips.
