In 15 forty seven, the court of henry the eighth revokes that right and responsibility of dukes. And instead appoints so called lords lieutenant as kind ofa trusted agents of the king who would organize and command the militias. That would never have been possible a hundred years earlier. There was no way. No king had that sort of real power to seize that privilege. But that became possible in the tudor era.
