Many Donglin ministers were heckled or pressured to give up their posts and disgrace following the arrest of Yuan for their known associations with this accused traitor general. This did not however mean that the Donglin faction had lost all influence within the imperial court. The UNIX continued to gain influence in the years after 1631, particularly as special investigators for the throne who worked in Beijing and elsewhere across the empire. If it weren't some devious self-interested ministered tricking and hoodwaking and uninformed or idiot emperor to agree with his poor policies, then there's only one place that the buck could possibly stop - right at the dragon throne itself.
