The Cost of Expectations on Mothers in the 1960s

In the 1960s there was a pushback against expectations that were being placed on mothers. The pressure to fulfill this like incredibly perfect role of mother which in many ways was idealistic and not achievable for many people. There begins to be more attention to the difficulties of motherhood but interestingly the response is not universally well, less change expectations of mothers. Instead it's let's change the psychiatric services specifically that are being offered to these women. More attention that is being given in the 1960s to this whole phenomenon of postpartum mental illness really for the first time.
