Cindy Cohen: The NSA and phone companies got a law passed called the FISA amendments Act Section 702. It purports to legalize this thing that had been done completely illegally since shortly after September 11 until they were caught in about 2007, 2008. She says once the government collects this data, it can be used for lots of other purposes. "That's not how it should work in a country where people actually have freedom," she says.
