The Rise of Hierarchy in Medicine
medicine was more hierarchical at the point of the NHS's inception. A lot of patients and members of the public really did not like those forms of authority. The rise of second wave feminism in the 1970s asked very pointed questions about the place of women in healthcare. Another change that we could think about is also the proximity of patients to their doctors in their everyday lives.
