Movie Review - Mister Smith

In the movie, our ponamous er smith is actually very astonished when he gets to washington. And i really like that as a framing device, because i think, in many ways, it's quite close to the truth. Now, this is a film of big, broad archetypes, and one of them is senator joseph paine played by claude rains. A veteran politician, kind of like bulworth or a john mc cane, you know, a good man who once had principles, but who has overtime become a cog in a corrupt system.
