I feel like there's a pretty decent skill trade off. Like hey, if you can play this game well enough, you can get through it with three hearts and no stamina. If you do those shrines, you come out of there with weapons that are straight up 10 times more powerful than the stuff you start with. That's kind of what the first game does as well. It just says here's the four go do them. But when they tell you that you are pretty close to one of them like, and the next quest you have leads you right to that one.
