Salem - The Puritan Crisis in Salem
By the end of the seventeenth century, the face of puritanism in the area was changing. These were no longer the intensely ardent believers who sailed to the other side of the world for their faith. And so there already was a sense that puritans by the 16 nineties weren't quite the puritans of the 16 thirties and 16 forties. The threat of pious puritanism being diluted was exasperated by demographic change in the area.
