Your mother's family are in tremendous danger once Nazi Germany has invaded the Netherlands. What insights do you think your family story provides about the path of the Holocaust in the Netherlands? Even the Nazis weren't really quite clear what they were doing, there was a huge amount of infighting among the Nazis. And it led them ultimately to feel that the only solution was just to get rid of the Jews altogether. My aunt loved playing tennis and she got a tennis racket before she could use it. The courts were shut. They couldn't go swimming. None of them would be able to even go shopping without putting themselves in huge danger. She went to a place called balsen which we all know
