The Princes of Moab Departed With the Fees for Divination in Their Hand.
Balaam was called by balak, the son of zapor, who was king of moab at the time. He told him that a people had come out of egypt and covered the face of the earth. Balaam said he could not go beyond the command of the lord my god to do less or more. God's anger was kindled because he went and the angel of the lord took his stand as his adversary.
