I wouldn't want to guess because I don't know how big the armies were, but I would suggest that if they had the skill set to build them and the resources available. We're talking 200 year old oaks of a certain diameter, tar in huge quantities, rope, wool for sails,. Unless these were actually ready available to go in January 1066, there wouldn't have been the time to be able to build completely new ships. So it requires a stock part of resources somewhere to be ableto get. But before we go back to the actual building the ship, so if you're right and I'm sure you must be that they co-opted a lot of ships from elsewhere
