A colleague at Penguin read it and kindly offered to put it forward to somebody, which of course you can't say no to. So then there was a little bit of a backwards and forwards with one of the manuscript assessors had asked for some more pages. It's also a testament to the power of networking, right? Because it was through someone that you knew who put it forward. But you would have never known that person had you not made an effort to become part of the writing community in general.
