Is the English Dane Law in Normandy an Equivalent to the Franks?

The current thinking is that there were so few of them in normandy that they soon assimilated with the frankish population, and that's why we don't have any physical remains. The other complication is that, whereas in in the british isles, quite a lot has been done on viking dna, my understanding is that's not allowed in france. So people can't just dig up viking sits and test the bones to find out where these people came from. I may be wrong about thatm, this is a few years ago. But i wasn't aware of that at all.
