Pervez Musharraf: Power in Pakistan
The Interview
00:00
Introduction
Pervès Mosherath, the former Pakistani army chief who masterminded a coup in 1999 and ruled the country for nine years has died. He seized power after falling out with then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. His domestic popularity sank as he showed increasing disregard for judicial independence and human rights. When I interviewed him back in 2014, he'd returned to Pakistan in an attempt to revive his political career but found himself facing separate charges of treason and murder.
