The culture revolution was the ultimate example of him winging it in terms of just throwing stuff in the air, seeing what would happen. But malgiven his head, i'm not quite sure how quickly he would really have brought it to an end. It's wollys rememory that ma always had this streak of revolutionary anger and desire to overturn everything. Some of his commonest colleagues were quite a sort of pragmatic machine, politicians, liochart n these sorts of people. They were kind of, you know, the polet bureau guys, a little bit gray, doing things by the book, which they had, of course, written.
