The commando's 265 of them involved in the raid had mostly been training for two years with endless running up and down Scottish hills. So when rumours came to their training base in Inverilot, this was the big one that this time it really was going to be. It's a combination of real appetite to get after the enemy, boredom, pent-up energy, and possibly a measure of self-delusion, self-deception because casualty rates in previous Norwegian raids had not been high.
