The Future of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation
Fecal microbiota transplantation is currently also being used to treat ulcerative colitis and other gastrointestinal conditions. In patients he cured from C-diff infections who had other diseases, such as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis, experienced decreased severity in these symptoms of their diseases outside of the C-diff infection after transplant. Currently, there are many clinical trials being done to test these correlative observations.
