The Task of Progressive Forces Is to Construct a Coalition of Interests
A complex understanding of interests as being multiple complex, potentially overlapping, potentially contradictory is a really useful way of understanding people's behavior. The common sense that people have about what is and isn't politically feasible or possible in a given moment will partly just be shaped by psychological factors andand by pure propaganda factors. We absolutely don't rule out the point that many people are just completely misinformed about the actual nature of society because the media lie to them. But we think all the best evidence is like most people in a society like modern britain or america or australia do have a pretty decent understanding of how power works there.
