He seizes more and more power and control over the church and doctrine in england. He grants himself a divorce from catherine of aragon in 15 33, and then the next year, in 15 34, he is able to get passed through parliament an act of supremacy of the crown. And he undertakes an initial re arm campaign which abolishes clerical celibacy. Clergy can now mary. He has churchmen translate the bible into english and distribute it to the churches so it can be read freely to people in their own language. And he creates lasting split with romert.
