The Drying Out of Organs
The final stage in the process, which is the longest one, is the drying out. The egyptians achieved the drying not by just putting the body out into the desert, but by a applying to it natron salt. And after approximately forty days, the body is considered to be dry. It would then be embalmed, encased in oilsooo and ceremoniously wrapped.
