Is There a Jump Host Pattern for Privileged Access?

A lot of organizations like this jump host type pattern for privileged access. I think that's now being misconstrued as you can use a less sensitive device to access a more sensitive environment from which you do your administration. We want to maintain a level of integrity all the way from the hardware-based device to that sensitive administration environment to your sensitive systems.
