The Promise of Invisibility in Hearing Aids
The promise of invisibility has always been a selling point for all kinds of hearing devices. In the 19th century, mechanical air trumpets were disguised to be worn in a woman bouffant hairdo or if some of them I've seen actually concealed in a man heavy bushy beard. And then in the early 20th century with vacuum to be hearing aid, the visibility was about disguising the wires and battery straps on your body.
