Warfarin in Mechanical Aortic Valve Patients
The first paper that I'm going to talk about is published in the same journal, NEJM evidence, May 6, 2023. This was a picks a ban or warfarin in patients with onyx mechanically aortic valves. And so there's actually interesting study, the proact study, that looked at using a lower INR goal for the onyx valve. They found similar rates of thrombosis and thromboembolism and lower rates of bleeding. The AHA recommends this lower INR target in onyx valves as a reasonable strategy.
