Reverend paris and his family were dumfounded. What had happened to transform these two previously well behaved girls into shrieking, writhing demons? Paris had arrived as a minister to salem in 16 89, and his appointment was far from universally popular. The curtain rises with him essentially at odds with the community over which he is meant to minister. And that is essentially when things begin to go slightly off the rails.
