The Unknown Soldier

The body of an unknown soldier was brought back from the battlefields to westminster abbey in 19 20. The coffin had on it a thee army webbing, a belt, the steel helmet, a side arm these were the equipment of younow the common soldier. And here was the common soldier, an anonymous common soldier, being buried with all the pomp and ceremony which would normally be accorded to a field marshal. People really believed er, that actually this er, the body in this coffin, was their son.
