I had zero sense that this was coming in large part because Carlson is so important to the identity of Fox News and to its reputation among the MAGA base. He brings it back not only by airing some of these conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, but particularly by defending the January 6th insurrection. At a moment when Ron DeSantis is looking weak, it's looking more and more like Donald Trump is going to be the nominee in 2024.
