The Differences Between a Firm's Fee Schedule and What It Says
The SEC confirmed it last year. Most firms are indeed calculating the fee different from what they're telling the client how they're calculating the fee. So there's two parts to the fee. One is, of course, the math, which although it is objective, it can be done in many different ways. And there are some even some like a tiered rateCan be interpreted by different people, different ways and the math done different ways. The other piece is that when a client signs a contract with an advisor, the contract says what the advisor will do and also what the client will do, which is pay a fee.
