Interstate 40: An Unacceptable Boundary
I-40 was designated in the 10J role for Mexican wolves as a experimental nonessential population. They're still endangered under the Endangered Species Act, but that is like a status given to allow more management flexibility with reintroduction. Technically, if a wolf crosses it and goes north of I-40, they are considered a fully endangered wolf.
