Synthesis Is a Stage Where Research Can Go Wrong
There are three stages of scientific research: synthesis, valuation and evaluation. The first stage is to synthesize what scientists know into a form that can be disseminated by the media. After this there's an evaluation which depends on your values - does it make you safer or more dangerous? And so with climate change i argue we need to look at what are the benefits of energy in terms of human flourishing. I consider people legitimately want expert knowledge but they've been conned into thinking experts tell them false things.
