When people adopt kids, they're not doing it because they're trying to be charitable. It doesn't necessarily mean that you're a more charitable person than everybody else. There 're a lot of white parents who try very hard to understand what it's like for their kids being non-white. But sometimes their version of trying comes out like, you're just good as white. Raceism still exists in the world. No matter how white adjacent i was in certain situations growing up, i was never white. And it took a long time to be ok with that."
