Chelsea's Under 16 Scholarships
Scholarships go to players who have turned 16 in the previous season and will turn 17 in the season to come. Players are educated largely on site and they will split their day between the classroom and the training field roughly 50 50 once they are done with their under 16 season the club makes the decision whether to retain them on a scholarship. In most cases these days a professional contract that triggers on their 17th birthday if they don't a player will then try to find another club and continue their journey elsewhere.
