The Shadows' cover of the March on the Drena was released in 1994, as part of an album called NATO. By the time the song was recorded, the Bosnian capital Sarajevo was under siege by Serb forces. Lieback belonged to an art collective that claimed to be a state of its own and even issued its own passports. Some Bosnians used the passports to escape the siege of Sarajevo.
