What Did You Know About Nagasaki Prisoners?
The POWs had no idea about VE day they didn't know about Hiroshima but suddenly American planes started flying over the city and there was a bombing run eight days before the nuclear bomb was dropped where Nagasaki was quite badly hit. I think they realized that at that point the tide had had turned to see the sound of the sound of an American bomber over the city was frightening in one way but of course induced tremendous amount of hope in another. They were completely starved of information they might just get a scrap of newspaper they might find drifting around the dockyard or on their walk to the dockyard in Japanese, trying to make sense of it.
