The CDC and the Moratorium on Evictions

Anton James: The CDC imposed a moratorium on evictions that was to run till the end of 2020. Five federal courts and an appellate panel of the Sixth Circuit Court ruled that the CDC had exceeded its authority in issuing the moratoriums. In June, five Supreme Court justices allowed the moratorium to stand until it was set to expire on July 31. But Justice Kavanaugh said specific congressional authorization would be necessary for the CDC to extend the moratorium past July 31.
