The Permissibility of Emotion in Ancient Rome
Julius Caesar is said to have wept before his troops before crossing the Rubicon in 49 BC. In ancient Rome men were allowed to cry whenever they liked and often did so in times of heightened political tension. I find any rules that's sort of based around the suppression of emotion, I feel quite old because if I'm going to cry, I're going to cry in this. It tends to be sport. Sporting montages will make me cry. A very good key change in a pop song. Oh, normally the X Factor's winner song which gets comes to number one. We'll really get my tears. That's scary.
