The History of India Rubber
In 1839, Charles Goodyear of Massachusetts invented the art of vulcanising or combining India rubber with sulphur. Volcanisation is the most important invention ever made in connection with India rubber and may fairly rank as one of the greatest discoveries of the present century. By vulcanisation, India rubber loses susceptibility to heat and cold, becomes non-adherence and insoluble in almost all substances. A frickin India rubber is mostly exported from the west coast.
