The criminal justice system should apply to all of us equally, we know it does not. It is important to demonstrate that no matter how rich and powerful you are, you have to be called to account if you violate our laws. Some misdemeanors doesn't mean you're necessarily evil. Regular people get in trouble and sometimes serve for misdemeanors all the time. That's certainly not how most people who want to run for office again and write laws ever talk.
