Is the Internet a Threat to Authoritarian Governments?
Is the internet becoming more of a threat to authoritarian governments? Or are they increasingly recognizing that threat? Is it increased technical capacity, or willingness on the part of those governments? I'm curious what you see there. There's certainly an element to which this has simply become part of the tool kit, as in some places. India, for example, is a repeat offender. It's simply one of the things that you do to shut down de said. So i think athoat's a major reason why you see these canhave complete shutdowns happening more and more frequently.
