The government moved to protect other banks from failing the way SBB did by offering to lend them money proactively in case they needed it. The feds also swooped in to shut down Signature Bank, another institution that like Silicon Valley Bank seemed to be teetering on the verge of collapse. About 90% of account holders at Silicon Valley Bank were business accounts that had more than $250,000.
