Congress's purpose in enacting the securities laws was to regulate investments in whatever form they are made. Congress's definition of securities includes more than 30 items, such as stocks, bonds and notes. Intermediaries for investment contracts need to comply with the Securities & Exchange Commission law. Many crypto platforms are just pretending that these investment contracts that they offer are more like Goldfish.
