The Role of Clothing in History

There are some people who recreate historic dress because they feel that by wearing it, it helps them step back into the past. Our minds are incapable of capturing the mind of a person in the past - we can't unlearn what we know about life in the 21st century. But arguably, the sensory experience of wearing clothing made as accurately as possible will give you some insights into the role of clothing at the time. And as we know, some people learn better through physical experiences than they do through intellectual experiences. Anything which helps us explore ideas, investigate ideas in different ways, makes history and ideas from the past more accessible to more people in more ways.
